The OP-1 provides an easy rack mounted connection for the line level inputs and speaker level outputs for a 2 channel bi-amped system. The line level inputs consist of a combo XLR-F and 1/4"-F TRS is wired in parallel with a rackmounted XLR-M for "loop-thru" connections and and XLR-M on a 24" tail for connection to the input of processing gear in the same rack.
The speaker level hookup is made at the amplifier with two banana plugs (one for each frequency band in a bi-amped system) wired to 2 parallel 4-pole Speakon connectors mounted to the rack panel. The Speakon connector is a keyed, high current, four conductor device designed especially for loudspeaker use. It allows both the high and low frequency signals for a bi-amped loudspeaker system to run through the same 4-conductor cable. We use these connectors on all of the Bag End portable PA speakers, and many of the musical instrument speakers.
