The PowerPre® is a high performance microphone amplifier that was designed from the ground up to deliver exceptional audio. It combines ‘old-school’, discreet components for optimum signal transfer with careful part selection to deliver a low noise rendering. This provides a solid foundation for the microphone before it is processed.

Unlike most preamplifiers that make you choose to either flatter the performance or deliver a flat response, the PowerPre breaks the rules by introducing a 3-position 'voice control' that essentially changes the way the output transformer renders the audio. This allows the character of the preamp to be optimized to deliver added warmth in the low end for female voice, clinical accuracy for traditional instrument recording and added air when recording an acoustic guitar or a male voice needs to cut though the mix.

Front panel XLR provides easy connection for desk-top use while traditional patching is supported via the rear panel. Standard features include ground lift and 180º polarity reverse while 48V phantom requires depressing a recessed switch that prevents it from being turned on by mistake when the PowerPre is used with ribbon microphones. The Omniport® is designated as a high-Z input for instruments with a switching jack that goes on when plugged in.
